I’ve created a Home Inspection Checklist for anyone interested who is planning to buy or rent out a new home in Singapore
This will be a continuously updated checklist of questions and items you will need to check up on before you decide to buy the home or move in as a tenant.
As a buyer, having such a checklist will give you a better estimation of how much your renovation will cost or you can also use it as a bargaining chip for a more favourable price for your new home.
If you are a tenant, it provides you a list for your landlord to rectify before moving in as a tenant.
This PDF will also make sure you have not forgotten to ask the important questions that are not necessarily defects in nature. (e.g. if the neighbours are pleasant, if there are loan sharks targeting this particular flat or if this particular flat is affected by the east or west sun)
This PDF includes questions to ask the landlord/ seller and things to look out for in the following areas
- General questions to ask about the unit
- The doors and gates
- The kitchen and service yard
- The ceilings, walls and floors
- The common bedroom(s) and bathroom(s)
- The master bedroom(s) and bathrooms(s)
An example page can be shown here

So if you are interested, please click on the download link here
I don’t take credit for it as I was heavily influenced by the link by 99.co. I just added a few more questions that I thought would be useful for the new tenant or buyer.
